Synopsis: As the son of the infamous Bourbon Butcher, Collin Parker toes an invisible line of perfection. But even his reputation as football prodigy and hard-working employee can’t rescue him from the stigma and legacy his father left him. A slight stutter keeps him from getting close to others, and as an outsider he watches beautiful
Lonna Stuart and sees what no one else does: her pain.

For her whole life, Lonna’s been told she’s the most gorgeous girl most people have ever seen. But on the inside, the ugliness of her life eats away at her. Only one person sees the real Lonna, and he’s everything she can’t have, no matter how much she wants him. Still, she’s inspired by Collin’s overwhelming kindness, and somehow manages to pull away from her asphyxiating life.

But in a prison hundreds of miles away, Collin’s father plans his epic escape. And on the night Collin is brutally attacked, everything he’s ever known changes in a heartbeat.

-MY REVIEW-
Wow, I haven't written a review in a long time, but this is the right book to review. This book is nothing like the first book (which I rated two stars); this book talks about a lot of difficult subjects, but Land handled each of them beautifully.

In this book we follow Lonna and Collin, and how they deal with everything that happened after book one, and everything in their life. This book starts before the end of the book one, but readers are able to read a lot about what happens after the events in book one.

Collin was the bright and shinning part of this book for me because he was absolutely fabulous. He is truly a nice guy. He is just so sweet that at the beginning of the book I wanted him to forget about Lonna, but I'm so glad that he didn't. Lonna was hard to warm up to, mainly because I didn't like her attitude. But we learn so much about her throughout the story, and she develops so much... Lonna became one of my favorite characters by the end of the book.

There wasn't a lot of talk about the Bourbon Butchers, and I think that they should have been in the book a little more. While I loved reading about Collin and Lonna, I wish that there was a little more of the fathers, simply because I think that it would help the next book. But I could be wrong.

I was super surprised by this book. I wasn't expecting a whole lot after book one, but I was curious enough to pick up this one. I'm so happy that I did because this book is so much better that the first one. I loved Collin and Lonna a lot more than Luke and Charlie, the writing was better, and the storytelling was better. I cannot wait to see what book three has in store for us.
